10th January 2013
I presented a tutorial on headaches to Emma and Carry - the different types of headaches, how they present, causes, mechanisms, treatment etc. This was really useful especially when they asked me questions as it's always good to be grilled! Good CCA practice.

Palpation group! A continuation of a group that was started in the third year to try and increase our palpatory awareness. The aim of the group is to try and focus our palpation more and for it to guide our technique. Using some of the palpation we have learnt in IMS has also helped with this group - light hands and mindful intention.
23rd January 2013
Ankle differential diagnoses and anatomy with Carry, Lucia and Patricia.
Later on that day I also did "Lucky Dip Patholog"y with Carry and Emma.
Emma brought in her pathology flash cards from year 2 and we took it in turns to quiz each other on randomly selected pathologies. I would like to say that I was surprised at how much I retained from previous years but sadly that wasn't the case!
Topics we covered were: pneumonia, Vitamin B12, Spleen function, Leukaemia, Asthma and COPD, Ulcerative Colitis, testicular cancer.
Things I discovered I need to revise: anaemia, jaundice, leukaemia, types of asthma inhaler.

30th January 2013
Carrying on down the body we reach differential diagnoses of the foot and revision of foot anatomy.
Today we also did DCP revision of neurological examinations, focusing particularly on cranial nerve assessment - why you might do it, which tests you would use for different presentations and what positive tests might indicate.

Wrist, hand and elbow differential diagnoses. A lot to cover with this study group! Maybe we should have broken this down a bit more but time is running out.
A useful session but I'm struggling to remember everything. I should feel more confident than this at this stage - I think it's pre CCA nerves are getting to me.

13th February 2013
Shoulder differential diagnoses. We've done this before but felt it was a good one to come back to as both Carry and I seem to have seen a lot of shoulder presentations recently.
20th February 2013
This week we are covering differential diagnoses of the cervical spine and anatomy of the c-spine.
27th February 2013
Thoracic spine - same pattern as usual - differential diagnoses and anatomy for the area.
6th March 2013
Lumbar spine this week - the big one!
DCP Practice
I've been practicing DCP skills as much as I can in clinic, using spare time to run through examinations with colleagues and asking them to quiz me. It's also really useful having my peer's opinions on how they do examinations.
